Fundraising Raffles

Lancaster Snow Angels holds a Small Games of Chance license, which allows us to host periodic raffles as part of our fundraising efforts. These raffles play a vital role in generating the resources needed to support our mission, helping us continue providing essential snow removal services to those in need within our community. By participating in these events, supporters contribute directly to keeping Lancaster Snow Angels’ work strong and sustainable throughout the winter season.

Lancaster Snow Angels Raffle Compliance Policy

1. All raffle prizes are taxable income to winners under IRS rules.

2. A Form W-2G is required when the prize value minus ticket cost is $600 or more AND at least 300

times the ticket price.

3. Federal withholding of 28% is required when net prize value is $5,000 or more.

4. Pennsylvania taxes raffle winnings; winners must report prize value on PA-40.

5. Nonprofit must maintain accurate prize logs including: ticket price, fair market value of prize, winner

contact info, and whether forms were issued.

6. Raffle prizes are not considered gifts under federal tax law.

7. Organization must request SSN from winners when required for IRS filing.

8. All raffle procedures must align with PA Small Games of Chance laws.

Instructions for Raffle Winners:

1. Your raffle winnings are considered taxable income by the IRS.

2. If your prize value (minus ticket cost) meets IRS thresholds, you may receive Form W■2G.

3. Even if you do not receive a form, you must still report the prize on your federal tax return.

4. Pennsylvania also requires you to report raffle winnings on your PA■40 state return.

5. Non■cash prizes must be reported using their fair market value.
